We are Michael and Shannon Gifford, the founders of New Heights Marketing, Inc. We live in a beautiful, mountainous, rural area just outside of Cartersville, Georgia, about 60 miles northwest of Atlanta. Michael grew up in Mt. Carroll, Illinois and Shannon grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. We both have college degrees. Michael has a Master's Degree in Counseling. We have been married for 29 years and have two daughters, two sons, a son-in-law and a grandson.
Been There, Done That? NO! We ARE There! We Are DOING That!
We have been entrepreneurs since we graduated from college. Michael has authored four books and owns various patents and trademarks. He currently owns and operates New Heights Marketing, Inc. Shannon has taught voice and has designed and sewn professionally including work as a costumer on a Truman Capote movie. She has had several sewing articles and a sewing book published and is currently serving as an online sewing instructor. You can visit her site at http://www.sensiblesewing.com/. Together we have operated home-based businesses nearly all of our married life. Through these businesses we have distributed books, done freelance graphical layout and design, marketed collegiate licensed products through mail order, developed and distributed marketing materials for a major national company and designed and maintained websites. Together we owned a manufacturing business (complete with employees, overhead and headaches) for three years in the early 90's.
We are not novices when it comes to self-employment. When we ourselves talk about home-based businesses, we are not parroting what we have read in books. We have actually walked the talk!
We are fully supported right now by our home-based business and have been for the past several years. We homeschool our children, take several long distance trips together every year and, generally speaking, enjoy the freedom to go when we want to go and do what we want to do. There are no bosses, no 9 to 5, no rush hour traffic. We can't imagine another way of life and would probably go nuts if we had to fit into some type of corporate mold.
The Birth of a New Website
Recently we decided it was time to share what we knew about building a successful home-based business. NoBizLikeHomeBiz was launched in February 2000, went on hiatus for a few years and then was re-launched in June 2009 with the purpose of providing insights and support for those who either work from home now or would like to someday work from home.
